The American Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) encourages practices that reduce the amount of waste needing to be disposed of, such as waste prevention, recycling, and composting.

The most effective way to reduce waste is to not create it in the first place. Making a new product requires a lot of materials and energy: raw materials must be extracted from the earth, and the product must be fabricated and then transported to wherever it will be sold. As a result, reduction and reuse are the most effective ways you can save natural resources, protect the environment, and save money.

Recycling is the process of collecting and processing materials that would otherwise be thrown away as trash and turning them into new products. Recycling can benefit your community and the environment. Energy recovery from waste is the conversion of non-recyclable waste materials into useable heat, electricity, or fuel through a variety of processes, including combustion, gasification, pyrolization, anaerobic digestion, and landfill gas (LFG) recovery. This process is often called waste-to-energy.

The conversion of organic material to compost can take up to two years, but Envoland’s efficient organic fermentation technology hastens the process considerably (e.g. 24-48 hours). The resulting natural organic fertilizer can be applied to lawns and gardens to help condition the soil and replenish nutrients.

Introduction

Organic waste can be divided into the following categories:

  • other similar industries which produce a variety of plant and animal waste.

The Envoland NCB-23 is a highly efficient unit for processing plant, animal residues,, livestock and poultry manure.

In practice we have found that the high speed fermentation plant can generally in about 24 hours handle various organic wastes, especially waste that cannot be dealt with traditional composting methods such as dead pigs, dead chickens, feathers, fish etc.

The NCB-23 ferments, decomposes, concentrates and purifies extremely fast and produces an appealing, a pleasant smelling and highly nutrient, low heavy metal organic fertilizer. Please note that large and/or hard material must be crushed first.

NCB-23 high-speed fermentation treatment.

The NCB-23 is a high-temperature aerobic fermentation plant utilizing 23 kinds of high-speed fermentation bacteria. When the conditions of air supply and an ambient temperature of 45 C exist the process commences, fermentation and decomposition start to take effect - (the critical temperature can be as high as 88 C, the optimum ambient temperature is between 50~70 C.

During the fermentation and decomposition process, more than 23 kinds bacteria are utilized which includes pyrolysis aerobic bacteria. The high-speed processing of decomposition can deal with the decomposition of biodegradable organic waste (such as plant, animal manure, animal residues, feathers, activated sludge ..... etc.).

In addition, this high-speed fermentation produces the rapid decomposition of the organic waste; the plant also produces a variety of hormones necessary for the synthesis of amino acids and so on. During the process the waste is stabilized and good bacteria is produced. The NCB-23 creates a very high environmental temperature up to 50~75 C, generally the pathogens in this high temperature environment will be killed off after 60 minutes from the start.

NCB-23 high-speed fermentation manufacturing main differences

  1. Waste volume reduction of about 30-70% (depends on the waste material).
  2. Regardless of the material properties, the organic fertilizer has a pleasant smell.
  3. In some finished product, the nitrogen levels are higher than general organic fertilizers but without the ammonia hazard.
  4. Most finished product is colored brown.
  5. There is a large difference in the Ph values of the organic fertilizer due to the different source materials.
  6. From raw waste material to organic fertilizer takes about 24~48 hours, for reference traditional organic fertilizer takes at least 60 days!

Meat & bone organic fertilizer example

  1. Animal residue treatment:
    1. Animal residue ratio to adjustment medum (or other deployment material) is 2:1 - 1:2 (by volume) the best ratio is 1:2.
      When decomposition and fermentation slows down then plants or sugar waste can be added.
      The treatment temperature is about 50 C ~ 80 C.
      Moisture content at 75% the average gravity is about 0.63 and the particle size is 5mm.

     

  2. Meat & bone organic fertilizer manufacturing testing:
     
    • The meat and bone fertilizer main waste material is dead pig, the adjustment material are rice husk, rice bran, microbes.

      Raising the moisture content to 75-85%, the mixed fermentation process is about 24 hours

      The color turns brown > the gas smell is pleasant > nitrogen level reaches 4.03% (which is quite high; the other content comprising of nickel, chromium, cadmium, lead content will be low, 1.17% phosphorus, potassium 0.91%).

      With fine tuning good organic fertilizer will be produced.

Tests show reducing chemical fertilizers applied with a corresponding reduction in agricultural product nitrate content, that a high content of organic fertilizer can:

  • reduce vegetable nitrate content between 48.3% - 87.7%
  • nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium content increase by 5-20%
  • increase vitamin C
  • total acid content decreased
  • increase sugar content, especially for tomatoes, lettuce, cucumber, etc.
  • can significantly improve the taste of raw food.

Conclusion

  • In the past we had only a very slow process (about 60 days min) to convert waste into a fertilizer that was not very acceptable.
  • It was unable to process dead pigs or chickens, feathers and discarded fish.
  • The process was time consuming, smelt, polluted and often the final product was heavily polluted.

The NBC-23 high-speed fermentation plant can within about 24 to 48 hours convert waste including municipal solid waste residues, livestock and poultry manure, food or brewing waste into a valuable product that will help our planet.
